Beware of Oppuland’s Ultra Fibrin Defense
In mid-2024 it came to our attention that a product being sold primarily on 3rd party ecommerce sites in China was touting itself as an improved version of our product Neprinol, and the product in question was routinely either displayed alongside Neprinol, or even on its own when searching for 极酶 (which is the Chinese name mostly used to refer to Neprinol since 2017). The product called Ultra Fibrin Defense by Oppuland was claiming to contain many of the same components of Neprinol with the same potency levels, as well as the addition of ginger and turmeric, and even closely resembled Neprinol in terms of its label design despite other Oppuland products having a more uniform and branded appearance that was not similar to that of Neprinol. Upon researching the product, Arthur Andrew Medical ordered a bottle of this product to have it tested via a 3rd party laboratory to determine if their claims of superiority (or even comparability) had any sort of validity.
The first tests were conducted in 2024 and reported on June 16th, and the results of this testing showed that the product did not come close to the activity of Neprinol for nattokinase and serrapeptase which are the two primary active components within Neprinol, and at the time Oppuland indicated the same strength as Neprinol on their label. What was perhaps more surprising and unexpected, was that the product contained so little of either enzyme that the activity of both was non-detectable. This means that the product either contained trace amounts of the enzymes, or none at all. Oppuland claiming that their product being anything close to resembling Neprinol as an actual therapeutic product were unfortunately laughable for those that were duped by their false marketing claims. At the time of this testing, the Oppuland formulation indicated that the product contained the same activity of both enzymes as Neprinol (30,000 FU/serving nattokinase, 90,000 SPU/serving serrapeptase), and the test results showed this to be misrepresented at best, or an outright lie at worst.
In 2025, it came to our attention that the product label was adjusted to remove serrapeptase, and now only reflected milligram inputs versus actual enzyme activities. This meant that the brand was no longer making a claim directly on their label of comparable enzyme activity to Neprinol, and the label was also adjusted to more closely reflect the look of other Oppuland products versus that of Neprinol. However, non-label marketing on ecommerce sites still indicated that the product was comparable or even superior to Neprinol. Upon a second round 3rd party testing in which we ran 4 separate enzyme activity tests, the product showed an improvement in the activity of the primary enzyme test for nattokinase by actually having a subtle detectable level of the enzyme, but the nattokinase was still only testing at 2% of the potency of Neprinol, meaning Neprinol is 50x more potent with nattokinase activity alone. In an effort to try and determine what is actually in the product, three additional tests were ran, serrapeptase (which we tested again since we had tested the prior version for the enzyme), one for plant-based proteases (bromelain and papain), and one for fungal proteases. The results showed that the product did contain plant based proteases (at a level that would be appx half of what we would expect to see in a similar Neprinol test report), and it did not contain a measurable amount of fungal protease (which it should if it were truly similar to Neprinol). Surprisingly, this version of the formula that did not indicate any inclusion of serrapeptase did have a measurable level of the enzyme in comparison to the version of the formula that was supposed to contain it and did not. Regardless, the activity level was still very low and not anywhere close to the level one would receive from Neprinol.
Oppuland carries a wide range of other products from vitamins and minerals to herbal extracts, and while we did not test any of these offerings besides the one that directly compares itself as superior to one of our own, we would urge caution and perform due diligence on their products before trusting your health and wellness to the brand.
